AREAS OF FOCUS
THERAPY FOR CHILDREN, TEENS & FAMILIES
I believe that our society often makes us believe that symptoms and issues need to be fixed in order for us to be successful and happy. It's tempting to beat ourselves up and carry this heavy load of torment, stagnation, or dread. 'Malaya' is a Filipino word that means 'to be free.' I gravitate towards this concept deeply and hope that by the end of our treatment, you gain a sense of content, solace, and freedom from your suffering.
I've been working in the mental health field for 20+ years, providing behavioral and emotional support. I'm a Licensed mental health counselor committed to help learning how to stay afloat while suffering from mental and emotional struggles. It is important to ask your permission as we enter your world, understanding where the struggle, patterns, and symptoms are coming from. I approach therapy with trauma-informed Therapy where safety, trust, and collaboration are essential principles to our work together. I am certified in Trauma Stress Studies, Internal Family Systems, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorder.
